Self-Esteem and Getting Old

I recently came across a study which showed that self-esteem has been shown to increase during young adulthood (20-40) but declines after age 60. The authors say that this is mostly due to older peoples’ decline in health and socioeconomic status.

This made me quite sad, and my heart goes out to those older folks amongst us whose self-esteems have been crushed because they are no longer as able as they used to be, nor do they have the ability to spend as freely as they once did.

And then I also realised that this was further motivation for me to keep working on my health, so that it declines less with age, and to also plan for the future financially.

Never stop building a better version of yourself.
